The Lord of the Rings:  The Two Towers (II)

11/13/2021

I recently purchased the Extended Edition of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies and have gotten through the epic series of young Bilbo Baggins traveling with Thorin and his band of Dwarves as they take back Erebror.  I'm ready to start the Lord of the Rings trilogy but want to watch it with my son.  However, he's been busy with school and now Roller Hockey so it may be awhile until I get to them.  Nevertheless, we shall continue with The Two Towers trading cards produced by Topps.

In The Fellowship of the Ring, all hope was lost when Gandalf fell to his doom as he battled against the Balrog in the Mines of Moria.  Card #27, The Return of Gandalf, shows that the great wizard survived the epic duel and returned even more powerful as Gandalf, the White.
Frodo's journey to destroy the Ring seemed unreachable as he and his friend, Sam, traveled through harsh mountains and swamps on their way to Mount Doom.  Card #29, The Dead Marshes, illustrates this hopeless journey.
Gandalf's growing power was revealed when he cast out the evil that possessed King Theoden at the hands of his former mentor, and now enemy, Saruman.  Card #36, The Exorcism, shows the beautiful Lady Eowyn and Aragorn look upon this amazing feat performed by Gandalf.
Suaron's power grew as he took over Middle Earth by rallying both Orcs and Men to do his bidding.  These creatures, at his disposal, became more grotesque and grew in numbers as pictured in Card #54, Orc Attack!
The Battle at Helm's Deep pushed the men and elves to their limits.  Card #69, Fierce Warfare, shows Aragorn battling an Uruk-Hai, where Saruman's army nearly defeated the heroes.
We will continue the Tolkien series in the next post as we continue our view into The Lord of the Rings:  The Two Towers.
