Peli Motto is a little firecracker of a gal! Street smart and spunky, she helps Mando in all of his flight navigational needs. She even rebuilt a Clone Wars starfighter for him! Mix in her quirkiness, such as speaking Jawa and even dating one of them, Peli Motto is the funniest character in the Star Wars universe! The above scene is from Episode 5: The Gunslinger in The Mandalorian Season One. That episode is where we also catch a glimpse of an unknown person rescuing Fennec Shand. We later learn in Season 2 that it was Boba Fett!
Battlestar Galactica is one of the great shows of my youth. I watched it as a 7 year old kid, sitting on bean bags with my brother in front of the TV. Eventually my parents bought me a Colonial Viper and a Cylon Raider for my brother where both contained a miniature character - a fighter pilot or centurion. However, I never had the trading cards and so I got a wax pack and dove right in with some nice pulls! The Cylons , under the guise of peace, destroyed Caprica and all battleships excluding the Galactica. Here they rain fire down upon the helpless citizens! Imagine Las Vegas actually pays out! Great food, winning at gambling, dancing, and music. That's the appearance of Carillon where everyone is a winner! However, the Ovion Insectoids preyed upon the helpless visitors and were in cahoots with the Cylons. Their horrid appearance portrays the hideousness of their scheming! Now contrast that with the beautiful Cassiopea, clinging onto Starbuck and portraying the perfect damsel in distress held in the protective arms of her hero. My brother and I played Battlestar Galactica as kids, running around the house, inside or out, using whatever we could find as weapons (usually it was a tree branch). The make-believe was even better for me if I got to be a Cylon. I'd talk in a Cylon voice and march around in their slow yet methodic way, trying to shoot down my enemy! I wouldn't take cover behind barriers because Cylons weren't afraid of anything! Cassiopea was one of the fair ladies in the series one of Starbuck's love interests. I was more of fan of Serina fan (played by Jane Seymour) but am happy to pull a sticker of her anyways. You can watch the original Battlestar Galactica series on Tubi TV for free. Check it out and you'll become a fan!
Boba Fett is the most dreaded bounty hunter in the universe and he will work for anyone if the price is right. His only allegiance is to credits and noone better get in the way when it's time for him to collect his bounty. I was first intrigued by this character because of this independence and entrepreneurial spirit. He sealed the deal as my favorite Star Wars character, surpassing Luke Skywalker, as I read more about him in the novels. His origin further came to light during the Clone Wars. However, that took a different direction that the books. He was emotional as a youth, but began improving his skill craft by taking jobs with other bounty hunters. Jump ahead to The Mandalorian, and we see that he survived the Sarlacc. At this point, he's lived through many adventures and became a more wise and honorable man. And then it happened... Boba Fett got his own series! It elaborated upon his survival from the Sarlacc, taken in by the Sand People, and becoming a warrior of the Dune Sea. The story deviated from one of the novels in that, if I'm not mistaken, he was originally saved by the six-breasted dancing girl from Jabba's palace. Nevertheless, I found it interesting as he ascended into a respected authority figure in Mos Eisley. His side-kick, Fennec Shand, proved to be a master strategist and the voice in his ear. Combined with her skills as a bounty hunter enforcer, it wouldn't surprise me if she usurps his authority one of these days! However, I doubt she could never mount and ride a Rancor like Boba Fett!
The Los Angeles Chargers won their opening season match against the Las Vegas Raiders in 24-19. Derek Carr was plagued with throwing interceptions, however, the Chargers defense had room for improvement as the Raider crept up in the 4th quarter. Austin Ekeler played as hard as ever but he didn't look like he was at the top of his game. Nevertheless, with football now in the regular season, it's time to dust off the old boxes of football cards and start posting my favorite team. Here are my four oldest cards of the Chargers. Featured cards are Pat Curran (1976 Topps), Chip Myers (1977 Topps), Don Woods (1979 Topps) and Mike Fuller (1980 Topps). The Chargers are the perpetual underdogs but one of these years they'll be kings of the gridiron and take home the Lombardi Trophy. I get fired up every time I watch a Chargers game, and so I'm equally as excited when I get another one of their players in my collection. The guys I hunt for are now retired and one has passed on, but it's still fun finding their cards, whether it's an insert of players of yesteryear, found in the dime box at a card store, or pulled from a mixed lot at a thrift store. The players I PC are Jr. Seau, Phillip Rivers, Danny Woodhead, and Ladainian Tomlinson.
