John Landy - 1959 Top Flight Stars

I was a collector as a young kid growing up in the early 80's.  That changed as I entered into high school, where Cross Country and Track became my primary interest.  Many years later, I was clearing out my garage and rediscovered an old box of baseball cards.  I remembered how something so simple brought such joy to me.  The desire to collect my favorite players and teams was reignited and so I resumed the hobby once more.

​I never realized that trading cards had been around for so long, the oldest dating back to the 1870's.  I also didn't realize that my favorite sport of running could also be found on trading cards.  Here's one from my collection - Australian runner John Landy.

Landy is one of the great milers of the 1950's who became the second person to run the distance in under 4 minutes - his fastest time was 3:57.9!  Check out this great race between Landy and Roger Bannister known as The Miracle Mile!
