In Search Of Pele

​The holidays bring about great deals in the digital card world and Labor Day is no exception.  Panini's FIFA World Cup trading card app release several packs that are 20% off.  In addition to Panini Prizm and the match cards from Russia 2018, you can now buy packs from every world cup dating back to Mexico 1970.  ​1970?  Didn't Pele still play back then?

Searching the Internet, he still represented Brazil.  I then checked the catalogue and sure enough, he has a card.  With only about 5600 coins, I started buying the cheapest packs - 5 cards at 200 coins.  I didn't pull Pele specifically, but I did get the Brazilian team card that features him in the photo.  I'll take that any day!  Now I'm not one to spend real money on digital cards, although I dabbled with that when these apps were first released, I will continue to use my free coins to by more of the 1970 FIFA World Cup packs.  If Panini follows their modus operandi, the pack will drop out of the store soon after the holiday, but will reappear again sometime in the future.

The 1970 packs dropped off the market but re-appeared a few weeks later.  I saved up my free coins and after spending 4K, I pulled the base cards of Pele!  Now I'm saving my coins to pull the various parallels which will prove even more elusive!
