The Lord of the Rings:  The Return of the King (II)
08-01-2022

The Return of the King Update Set concludes my review of the top 5 cards from each set of the trilogy.  We start off with Card #91, The Lord of the Rings:  The Return of the King.  Checklists are usually poorly done across the hobby, but this one is spectacular with the movie-poster theme on the front.  It features many of the heroes... The Lord of the Rings:  The Return of the King (I)
07-25-2022

The epic war between good and evil concludes with The Return of the King.  Merry and Pippin are pushed into new realms of bravery and heroism unlike anything they ever experienced before.  Aragorn takes his rightful place as the king of men and, with the help of the Dead Army, he defeats the forces of Sauron.  Lastly, Sam struggles... The Lord of the Rings:  The Two Towers (II)

I recently purchased the Extended Edition of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies and have gotten through the epic series of young Bilbo Baggins traveling with Thorin and his band of Dwarves as they take back Erebror.  I'm ready to start the Lord of the Rings trilogy but want to watch it with my son.  [More...]

The Lord of the Rings:  The Two Towers (I)
10-22-2021

The rise of Sauron is felt throughout middle earth as he rallies orcs, men, and other foul beasts to do his bidding. The ring wraiths lead the charge as they take over town after town in search of the one Ring of power. The Two Towers is by far my favorite movie in the Tolkien series. We are introduced to the mighty Tree Ents... [More...]

The Lord of the Rings:  The Fellowship of the Ring (II)

Topps second release of Topps’ The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring trading cards took a more sinister path as it focused on the dark forces of Mordor.  Although it includes scenes of our heroes, there was an emphasis on Sauron’s growing power.  I tried to limit my favorite cards to the top 5, but found that too difficult of a task.  [More...]

The Lord of the Rings:  The Fellowship of the Ring (I)
10-01-2021

Topps released The Fellowship of the Ring trading cards as a two part series, the first arriving in 2001 and then an Update series the following year.  Presented below are some of my favorite cards of the first series.  It was a good attempt at piecing together the movie with screenshots of the film where descriptions of the scene... The Lord of the Rings:  The Fellowship of the Ring Character Cards
09-24-2021

The Lord of the Rings trilogy tops my list of favorite movies.  I was first attracted to the Tolkien series when I saw the 1978 cartoon as a kid.  The animation was fascinating with the realistic facial expressions that brought the characters alive.  Once I started working in high school, I bought a VHS copy from Suncoast Video and it became...
