The Hobbit | The Lord of the Rings
I became fascinated with the Lord of the Rings when I was a young lad and saw the 1978 version. It became my go to movie to watch whenever I felt sick and stayed home from school. It was also my introduction into the fantasy genre where I subsequently dove into reading the Dragonlance novels as a teenager. The Peter Jackson movies sealed their fate as my favorite movies of all time, surpassing the original Star Wars trilogy.

BoromirBoromir was a valiant warrior of Gondor who joined Frodo in his quest to destroy the Ring. Although he attempted to steal the Ring to use it's power again Sauron, he redeemed his honor and sacrificed his life in defense of Merry and Pippin from the Uruk-hai, whom ultimately tore him down with arrows that pierced his flesh.

Dark Riders (Ring Wraiths, Nazgul, Black Riders)Once honorable kings, the Dark Riders became corrupted by the will of Sauron and became his servants. Their leader, the Witch-king of Angmar, oversees the search of the Ring, and they destroy any that gets in the way of their sole purpose. My favorite portrayal of these characters are in the 1978 animated version of The Lord of the Rings, and my favorite scene is when a Dark Rider comes upon Frodo and friends leaving the Shire. Hunched over his horse, he dismounts and limps across the road, sensing the ring. Moaning an d with the sinister music in the background, this scene has stayed with me all these years. EowynEowyn is the shieldmaiden that destroys the Witch-king of Angmar, leader of the Nazgul. She defies her role as a fair princess who is supposed to be subservient to men, and proves her mettle in battle, earning the respect of men and adding to the hone of the King of Rohan.
